Manasquan Pair Face Drug Distribution Charges

Brielle Road men arrested Wednesday with over 100 grams of pot

Two Manasquan men facing drug distribution charges made their initial appearances in Superior Court on Thursday, court records show.

John D. Cameron, 23, and Andrew S. Kelly, 25, both of the same address on Brielle Road, were arrested on Tuesday and each charged with alleged possession of over 100 grams -- close to a quarter pound -- of marijuana with intent to distribute, according to criminal complaints.

Both men made their initial appearances before Judge John G. Colannino in Freehold Thursday, facing charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, the complaints say.

In addition, Cameron was charged with resisting arrest for allegedly charging at Det. Michael Bonanno during the execution of a search warrant in an attempt to flee and/or destroy evidence and avoid being handcuffed, the complaint says.

Cameron also faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia -- one digital scale and packaging material -- and possession of prescription legend drugs, the complaint says.

Cameron's bail has been set at $30,000 with no 10 percent option, while Kelly's bail was set at $20,000 with no 10 percent option, the complaints say.

Michelle that is a great point. Why was a pitbull that was charging at officers shot in the face at a drug house with people trying to escape. I'm baffled!

Michelle: We report what we gather from the sources we have. In this case, those sources are Superior Court records and the criminal complaints filed by the Manasquan Police Department. But I'll look into the pitbull. Thanks!

Add up everything that cost me, the taxpayer, from a joint investigation going on for a period of time between the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Narcotic Strike Force and the Manasquan Police Department, to the ambulance sent out to treat one of the accused. Now add in court costs, costs for the prosecutor, costs for the investigation into the dog being shot ( of course the cop will come out smelling like roses), even the cost of the bullets that killed the dog. All this for what? To confiscate under 1/4 lb. of pot from a couple of 20 somthings? If these guys have never been in trouble before, I'm guessing they will get probation at most. It's hard to believe this state is broke!

The pit bull you are wondering about is named Tork. He was a beautiful brindle terrier and the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He did not charge at the officer by the way, if that was in fact the case then why did the officer that shot him have to take two other officers outside and generate a story to cover the fact that the dog was shot. Secondly he was a big cuddle buddy all he wanted to do was get attention and be around everyone. He was a typical dog and barked at people who came to the door and welcomed them with kisses as soon as they entered the house. The officer was a dumbass and decided hmmmmmmm I'm not going to kill this dog I'm going to shoot him in the face right through the nose and then I am going to shoot him in the chest! Smart right. This poor dog suffered with internal bleeding and two gun shots while the police officers did nothing but destroy everything marijuana that was a lot less than they thought in the first place. Besides all that Tork was bleeding for 9 hours before they decided to put him to sleep at the animal hospital but that wasn't before he was transported to the Humane Society and then transported again to the animal hospital.. If you're going to shoot something aren't you trained to make it a kill shot or at least if the officer was being "charged" at by Tork then wouldn't he know the kill spots to shoot him?
