Man Indicted in Sexual Assault on 12-year-old in Brielle

A 26-year-old Freehold man is being charged with crimes related to the sexual assault of a 12-year-old child in Brielle.

An April 8 grand jury indictment released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office charges Anthony Monteforte with one count of sexual assault, one count endangering the welfare of a child and one count of lewdness.

The charges stem from a Dec. 17, 2010 incident in which prosecutors allege Monteforte had sexual contact with an unidentified 12-year-old minor.

Monteforte will be tried in Monmouth County State Superior Court in Freehold. The case has yet to be assigned to a judge and a court date has not been scheduled.
