Man Busted For Heroin Loots Manasquan House, Pawns 'Air Jordans' and Xbox

A 24-year-old Freehold man busted for heroin possession also allegedly tried to loot a Manasquan house, stealing "Air Jordans" sneakers an an Xbox.

Jose Tavares then tried to pawn the goods at Buy and Sell City in Freehold, police said.

Tavares was arrested on Thursday and charged with possessing a controlled dangerous substance and possessing six folded pieces of wax paper, all containing a powder suspected to be heroin.

He also possessed three hypodermic syringes.

Tavares was lodged in jail on $15,000 bail.

He should have put on the sneakers to run away faster, but he got nabbed. It was convenient that he carried his drugs with him, making the charges a lot more serious than burglary.

They keep telling us that drugs should all be legal & that it is all a "victimless" crime... Looks like the people he stole from would not agree. A break in can turn violent if the owner finds them there too. Addicts do many horrible things for their fix. A family member stole $50,000 from a grandmother by forging her signature on bonds that were going to give all her grandchildren money for home down payments. Two of them never got their own home, & another had to wait 15 more years to afford a mortgage. He took that all away from them, so he could be a pothead. He developed mental illness from that drug use, & became a fugitive after nearly killing several family members. Such a waste of everyone's future...But according to the social workers it is a victimless crime!

Isn't Manasquan one of those "Safe Cities" that welcome illegal aliens with open arms ? I'd be interested to know Mr. Tavares' immigration status ?
