Man, 74, Indicted In Child Sex Assault of 11 Year-Old

Wall Township Man Indicted for alleged sex assault in Fall 2012

A Wall Township man, 74, was indicted on one count of sexual assault of an 11 year-old, according to court documents.

Thomas McKenna of Wall was indicted recently on one count of child sexual assault and one count of child endangerment for incidents that allegedly took place between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31, 2012.

The incidents took place in Wall, according to the indictment, which was handed up by Monmouth County grand juries April 19.

The first count of the indictment, the sex assault, is a second degree crime. The endangerment is a third degree offense.

He was arrested in January. Reports at the time said McKenna was arrested Jan. 9 and taken to Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, on $200,000 bail, according to the arrest warrant. McKenna was not listed as an inmate Jan. 11, jail records say.

Wall Township police in a release in January said no further information would be released, citing the nature of the crime and the age of the child. No photo of McKenna was released.

The preliminary investigation began in January, conducted by Patrolman Vincent Mazzaccaro and Wall Detectives. The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office assisted, Lt. Walter Pomphrey said.
