Images: Boat Stuck on Route 35 Shark River Bridge

A Patch reader captured the aftermath when a sailboat became stuck on the Route 35 bridge that crosses over the Shark River inlet Friday.

Paul Spennrath of Belmar sent photos to Patch showing the vessel, which got stuck at about 10:45 a.m. as high tide came in. The photos show that the boat's mast, lodged between bridge support beams, is broken.

Authorities responded to the scene and other boats were able to slowly navigate past the stuck sailboat, according to the Patch reader report. The boat was able to move once low tide came in during the afternoon.
