Health Aide From Manasquan Group Stole $19,000 From Brick Resident

A home health aide from a Manasquan group was charged with theft after stealing $19,000 from a Brick resident, police said.

Sheila McFadden, 46, of Asbury Park was also charged with forgery.

An investigation by Detective Michael Bevacqua revealed that a home health aide that was hired through All Heart Home Care of Manasquan had removed approximately $19,000 from the bank account of an elderly resident of Brick Township, police said.

The probe revealed McFadden had taken the checks during her employment at the Brick Township residence, police said.

Brick Police were first alerted to the thefts on Dec.19, when McFadden was arrested by the Lakewood Township Police while attempting to cash one of the stolen checks in their jurisdiction.

During that incident McFadden was charged with forgery and receiving Stolen Property by the Lakewood Township Police and subsequently transported to the Ocean County Jail.  After further investigation, it was determined that 11 additional checks were taken from the victim and ultimately cashed.

On Jan. 24, McFadden received a criminal summons at the Ocean County Jail where she was still lodged on the original charge signed by the Lakewood Township Police.

The investigation is continuing and anyone who believes that they may have information is asked to contact Detective Bevacqua at 732-262-4612.
