Farmingdale Man Accused in Rash of Car Break-ins

96 break-ins, 52 thefts noted in court documents

A Farmingdale man has been accused of unlawfully entering unlocked vehicles and removing property in the borough of Belmar, according to documents released by the Monmouth County Superior Court.

22-year-old Jeffrey C. Tyler III allegedly entered 93 unlocked vehicles throughout the borough and removed multiple items from 52 of them in numerous incidents between the dates of March 26, 2010 and May 28, 2011.

Tyler is also accused of using forcibly entering several vehicles in the borough and removing property.

In one incident, Tyler allegedly threw a hammer through the driver's side front window of a vehicle, causing more than $500 worth of damage, and removed a purse and its contents.

Tyler is also accused of throwing a brick through the windshield and passenger's side front window of a 2006 Jeep Comanche, causing approximately $1,000 worth of damage and removing a purse and its contents belonging to the vehicle's owner.
