Bronx Men Charged Using Counterfeit Bills Also Accused of Drug Possession

Police found marijuana hidden in car ceiling during last week's Bradley Beach arrest

Two Bronx men who were arrested last week in Bradley Beach for their part in an using fake $100 bills have also been charged with drug possession, documents show. 

Marcus A. Maldonado and Jason C. Castillo, charged last week along with a third alleged accomplice for spending several counterfeit bills at borough establishments, were also found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana after police searched their automobile, according to additional criminal complaints. 

During a search of their car, police say they found a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana in the ceiling panel above the driver's side.

The two men, along with Phillip Peters Jr., made their initial appearances in Superior Court this week facing charges of third-degree forgery and disorderly persons theft. Maldonado and Castillo also appeared yesterday with the additional charges of possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, the complaint says. 

The men are currently incarcerated in Monmouth County Jail, their complaints say. All three are each being held on $82,000 bail.
