Belmar Police Summons Report: July 2-16

864 motor vehicle tickets, 416 ordinance violations reported

Belmar police during the first half of July issued more than 1,200 summonses and made 40 arrests, according to a department release. 

The number of motor vehicle summonses totaled 864 — 123 moving violations; 741 parking violations — and among 416 ordinance summonses, 114 were for Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) violations. 

Police also responded to 42 motor vehicle accidents during the same two-week period of July 2-15.

Compared to the , when police issued 804 motor vehicle summonses and 325 ordinance summonses, the number of violations in the latest report are similar. 

However, the number of motor vehicle accidents dropped 15 from the previous period, when 57 were reported.

And beach/boardwalk summonses nearly tripled to 96 from 37 the previous two weeks. 

Belmar police issued the following summonses between July 2 and July 15, 2012: 

Borough Ordinance Summonses: 416

  • Noise: 35
  • Housing: 31
  • ABC: 144
  • Beach/Boardwalk: 96
  • Lewdness/Urinating: 63
  • Miscellaneous/Disorderly: 47

Motor Vehicle Summonses: 864

  • Moving Violations: 123
  • Parking Violations: 741
