1,100 Parking Tickets Issued Last Month

Belmar police also made 68 arrests, issued 513 ordinance summonses

Belmar police last month wrote more than 1,100 parking tickets during a four-week period, records show. 

Between July 30 and Aug. 26, police also made 68 total arrests and issued 513 summonses for ordinance violations, according to figures released by the Belmar Police Department. 

In addition to the 1,122 parking tickets, police wrote 226 summonses for moving violations during the same four-week period, records show. Police also reported 41 motor vehicle accidents in the borough.

The figures are mostly down from the previous month, when police wrote 1332 parking tickets, issued 714 ordinance summonses and made 64 arrests. 

The most common ordinance summonses in August were for alcoholic beverage control (ABC), miscellaneous/disorderly conduct, and beach/boardwalk violations, records show.

During the previous month, ABC, beach/boardwalk and housing violations topped the list. 

Violations for lewdness/urinating and beach/boardwalk offenses were down significantly from the previous four-week period.
