Belmar Police Arrest 36 in Two Weeks

A dozen arrested over Memorial Day Weekend

Belmar Police made 36 arrests between May 21 and June 3, according to a department release. 

During Memorial Day Weekend, borough police arrested 12 individuals for alleged disorderly conduct, improper behavior, or other alcohol- and drug-related offenses, the release says. 

Among the 36 arrests, nine were of juveniles, the release says. Police, however, did not provide names or charges corresponding with those arrests.

During the same two-week period, borough police issued 322 ordinance summonses and 783 motor vehicle summonses (141 moving violations; 642 parking violations), the release says. 

Among the ordinance summonses, 57 were noise violations, 113 ABC (alcoholic beverage control) violations; 28 lewdness/urinating violations; and 61 miscellaneous/disorderly violations, the release says.

During Memorial Day Weekend, three individuals were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct; one for driving while intoxicated; three for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and underage alcohol consumption; and four for improper behavior, the release says.

None of the 12 individuals were from Belmar and only one was local (from Brielle), the release says.
