Belmar Closes Portions of Ocean Avenue To Pump Silver Lake, Lake Como Flooding

Borough urges residents to move vehicles to municipal lots

Belmar began pumping out Silver Lake and Lake Como after heavy rains continued to flood area roadways, and the borough is urging residents to move vehicles out of those neighborhoods.

Residents should not attempt to drive through flooded areas, officials urged, and portions of Ocean Avenue have closed in order to pump out floodwaters.

Rain began pelting the area Monday morning leading to flooded roadways along the lakes. The National Weather Service was forecasting seven inches of rainfall in the Belmar area Monday. As heavy rains are predicted through the night, the borough is urging residents in flood prone areas to take precautions.
