Belmar and Brielle Men Charged in Wall
Local men facing shoplifting and drunken driving charges
A Belmar man was charged with shoplifting and a Brielle man charged with drunken driving in Wall on Sunday, police said.
At about 1:16 pm, Wall police responded to K-Mart for a shoplifter in custody. An on-scene investigation led to the arrest of Evan H. Penkethman, 28, Belmar, for shoplifting. Penkethman was processed at police headquarters and released on a summons.
At about 6:18 p.m., Officer Drackwicz observed a motor vehicle infraction and conducted a subsequent motor vehicle stop at Route 35 and Ocean Road.

As a result of the motor vehicle stop and on scene investigation, Justin X. Berardi, 32, Brielle, was placed under arrest for DWI and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Berardi was processed at headquarters and was released according to John’s Law.

At about 11:16 am, Officer Baldino observed a vehicle make a motor vehicle infraction and conducted a subsequent motor vehicle stop at Hwy. 138 and Allenwood Rd.
As a result of the motor vehicle stop and on-scene investigation, Charles Olfano, 38, of Wall, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Olfano was processed at police headquarters and released on a summons.
