OBITUARY: Rocco Zito, of Manasquan

Rocco N. Zito, 87, of Manasquan, passed away at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Saturday, November 16, 2013.

Mr. Zito was born and raised in New York. He lived in Teaneck for many years before coming to Manasquan in 2002. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a mechanic for the New York City Transit Authority, before retiring. To his family, he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Zito was predeceased by his parents, Rocco and Teresa (Rossi) Zito, as well as all of his siblings, Dan, Josephine and John Zito, and Rose Valenti, Mildred Federico and Margaret Provenzano. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ann (Caruso) Zito, and his children and their spouses, Rocco and Marie Zito, Luann and John Quigley, and Perry and Joan Zito. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer, Robert, Jillian, Joseph, Christopher and Domenic Zito, and Justin, Brendan, Conor, Ryan, and Fiona Ann Quigley, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, at New Bedford Road, wall, on Wednesday, November 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Denis Church, Manasquan, on Thursday, November 21, at 9:30 A.M., followed by entombment at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, wall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Zito’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or to St. Denis Church, 90 Union Avenue, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
