Obituary: Philip Gartner, 63

Visitation Wednesday with funeral service Thursday morning

Philip J. Gartner, Jr., 63, of Farmingdale died Sunday at Jersey University Medical Center, according to the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home in Freehold.

Gartner was a retired member of the United Union of Roofers Local 4 in Parsippany and worked for the family-owned Gartner Bait & Tackle shop in Belmar. 

He loved fishing, hunting, playing bingo, going to the Freehold Raceway and celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Belmar.

He is survived by three daughters, Melissa Rudow and her husband, Michael of Jackson; Phillie Ann Gartner of Wall and Jill Gartner of Wall; two granddaughters, Angela and Gianna Rudow of Jackson; and a brother, John Gartner of Farmingdale.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at , 100 Route 524, Freehold. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with interment to follow at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.
