Obituary: Darren Arms, Owner of Lenny's Colonial Ranch Meat Market

Viewing Thurs.; Funeral Mass Fri.

"Darren Arms, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, husband, 50, of Brick, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick," according to an obituary posted at legacy.com.

"Darren was born Dec. 2, 1962 in Plainfield, he lived most of his life in Point Pleasant before moving to Brick in 2008.

He was the owner and operator of Colonial Ranch Meat Market which he purchased from his father, Lenny in 1986 when it was a corner store and he expanded it to become the Colonial Ranch we know and love today.

He was a communicant of St. Dominic's R.C. Church, Brick. Darren was very active in the community. He was a member of the Elks B.P.O.E. 1698 in Point  Pleasant Beach, where he coached their Pop Warner teams for many years.

He was instrumental in developing both the AAU Basketball League and the mid- Monmouth basketball leagues in Point Pleasant, as well as the Baseball program at St. Denis School in Manasquan.

He also coached soccer, basketball, and baseball for the Point Pleasant Recreation Dept. He was the best man in the whole entire world. Not only to his family, but to everyone.

He loved to fish, go to Giants games, loved music, and movies and loved the little things. He didn't care about his truck or his house in Florida. He cared about his family and his business and the little fish that would jump out of the water when we would stand on his dock.

He is loved and everything in between. Darren was not just a father to his six children, he was a father figure and a role model to many in Point Pleasant.

Surviving are his lovely wife of 28 years, Lisa Provinzano Arms; three sons, Bryan, Brandon and Billy, all of Point Pleasant; three daughters, Shannon Pastovic, Wisconsin, and Amanda and Jennifer, both of Point Pleasant; his father, Lenny Arms, South Florida; his brother, Adam Arms, Toms River; and two sisters, Frankie Gibbons of Florida and Desirea Bennett of PA. He was also survived by his grandpuppy Mugsy.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday Jan. 18, 2013 at St. Dominic's R.C. Church, Brick. Cremation will be private."

The Hurley family sends our deepest condolances and prayers to the entire Arms family. Our hearts are heavy as we struggle to accept the sudden loss of such a vibrant wonderful genuine man. Darren gave the entire town the gift of his warm presence and humanity every single day. He will be missed by everyone he knew including our family. We send prayers and support to the Arms family as they weather this terrible storm. God Bless.
