Matthew Trengrove, 23, Manasquan Lifeguard

Visitation Thursday April 18 from 4-8 p.m. at Orender. Mass of Christian Burial Friday April 19 9:30 a.m. at St. Denis Church.

Matthew J. Trengrove, 23 of Manasquan passed away Monday April 15 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick with his family by his side.

Matthew was born in Burlington, NJ and was a lifelong resident of Manasquan. Matthew was a graduate of Manasquan High School, where he played football and lacrosse. He was attending Centenary College, Hackettstown, NJ and was a member of the Lacrosse team.

Matthew had been a Manasquan Lifeguard for several years and enjoyed competing in the Lifeguard Tournaments and boogie boarding at Manasquan Beach. Matthew enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be especially missed by his dog, Gunner.

In keeping with Matthew’s loving spirit, it was his family’s decision to donate Matthew’s organs so that others may have a better quality of life. 

Matthew was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Harry and Helen Smith, his paternal grandparents John, Sr. and Marjorie Trengrove. He is survived by his parents John and Donna Trengrove, a sister Maureen Trengrove and a brother Andrew Trengrove all of Manasquan. Matthew is also survived by his closest friend Katie McCool of Northfield, NJ.

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday April 18 from 4-8 p.m. at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Friday April 19 at St. Denis Church, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Volunteer Engine Company#2 , 111 Parker Avenue, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
