Pink Ribbon Benefit for Mary's Place by the Sea

The Pink Ribbon Benefit began in 2006 as a way to raise money for the Avon Walk and also to show the people in the community fighting cancer, that they are not alone.  “What started as a small idea to show support to a family friend, has become an event with an outpouring of love and hope from the surrounding community,” says Jennifer, one of the committee members. Although she and some of the other committee members have participated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer for the last 7 years, this year, they decided that all of the proceeds will go to Mary’s Place by the Sea, a nonprofit care center for women to come to rest and heal during and after treatment.  “I don't think any of us thought 8 years ago, that this would be an ongoing benefit, but seeing how much hope and love surrounds this event and all of the good we do, we just can't give up,” states Susan, another committee member.

With the aid of family, friends, and local businesses, the Pink Ribbon Committee has raised over $55,000 over the past seven years and have walked over 350 miles to support this cause.  Connolly Station generously donates the food and hosts the event each year and has offered to do the same this year.  Sheridan exclaims, “Connolly Station has been so instrumental in the success of the Pink Ribbon Benefit each and every year.  Without hesitation, Mark Farrell and the entire team at Connolly offer up their place, their food, and even donate items for the raffle every year for this benefit!”  For a $25 donation at the door, guests are entitled to a delicious hot and cold buffet.  The infamous Chinese Auction has great prizes this year, such as a $100 lottery ticket basket, local favorite restaurant gift baskets, massage and spa gift certificates, and several other fabulous prizes and gift certificates donated by local businesses. The Pink Ribbon Committee believes that they will exceed last year’s raffle prize number of 75 baskets! There will also be a 50/50.  Children are welcome with free admission under 12 years of age. DJ Reuben Rey will make sure everyone is having a great time, along with a professional photographer, Victor Bubadias, so dress to impress.

Please contact Jennifer via e-mail at pinkribbonbenefit@gmail.com or go to the http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/8th-annual-pink-ribbon-benefit/106167 website to donate to Mary’s Place by the Sea online.  Funds raised at this event and online will be awarded to Mary’s Place by the Sea, a 501(c)(3) a non-profit public charity to provide a comfortable place for women to rest during and after cancer treatment.  For more information, visit www.marysplacebythesea.org.
