U.S. Senate Election: Was It Really A Victory?

The majority of voters stayed home; neither candidate inspired a majority to turnout.

New Jersey voters went to the polls Wednesday to elect a new U.S. Senator

A fraction of them did, anyway. 

State turnout numbers were unavailable Thursday morning, but in Monmouth County about 25 percent of eligible voters cast ballots in the special election to replace late U.S. Sen Frank Lautenberg.

With the vast majority of voters -- three quarters of them -- choosing to skip the election altogether, can any results really be called a "win?"
