Weather Service: Thunder, Lightning Likely Tonight

Strong gusts, flooding and hail also possibilities

Showers, thunderstorms and possible "cloud to ground" lightning are expected tonight, according to the National Weather Service. 

Storms could produce hail, gusty wins and heavy rain in some areas, the weather service predicts. 

Chance of thunderstorms in the Manasquan-Belmar are are 70 percent, mainly before 2 a.m. Thursday, the service says.

Anyone who sees lightning should head in-doors, the service warns. 

New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Areas with very heavy rain could see flooding in poor drainage areas, the service predicts. Wind gusts up to 40 mph and small hair are also possible with such storms.
