Mandatory Evacuation Ordered in Parts of Manasquan

Areas east of Potter Avenue subject to mandatory evacuation orders; voluntary evacuation elsewhere

Manasquan officials are calling for the mandatory evacuation of the borough's low-lying waterfront areas.

Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Kircher confirmed the announcement, explaining that the area would be endangered through Sunday as Hurricane Irene passes barrels its way up the eastern seaboard.

For residents who live east of Potter Avenue and in the areas of Deep Creek Drive and Glimmer Glass Circle, evacuation will be mandatory.
