NRR Hosts Free Learn-To-Row Day on the Navesink River in Red Bank on Sunday, June 23

Sunday, June 23rd is Learn-to-Row Day at Navesink River Rowing. From 9 am - 1 pm, visitors to the newly re-opened NRR site, at the end of Maple Ave (off West Front St) in Red Bank, NJ, can enjoy a variety of fun, hands-on, rowing-related activities. The entire event is free and open to the public.

NRR has been offering men, women and teens affordable access to all aspects of the sport of rowing since 1983. The group maintains a fleet of boats for members to use from May through late October and provides lessons, coaching and summer youth programs in June, July & early August. 

“Each year, on Learn to Row Day we open our site to the public,” explains NRR Board President, Kay Vilardi of Little Silver, “Anyone who is interested can come down, see our facilities, try out some of our equipment and even get into a boat to learn a little rowing from NRR volunteers and coaches. It’s an the whole family can enjoy.” 

Although you must be at least 14 to enroll in one of NRR’s highly regarded youth programs and 18 for full membership privileges, on Learn to Row day, younger, school-age children can also get in a boat and give it a try. 

There is no upper age limit, not on Learn-to-Row day and not for owing in general. There are recreational and competitive rowers in their 70s o 80’s. It’s never too late to take up the sport. 

Along with Learn-to-Row Day demonstrations, site tours and ini-lessons, NRR members and coaches will also be on hand to answer questions ad share their rowing experiences. To learn more about the organization and he June 23rd Learn-to-Row Day, please visit  http://www.navesinkriverrowing.org
