Skate and Surf Festival Location Moves from Asbury Park

iPlay America will host the music festival in May.

After an eight-year hiatus, the Skate and Surf Festival has decided to make its comeback in Freehold.

The Skate and Surf Festival originated in Asbury Park, and was an annual event that promoted new music and showcased some of the more popular ‘punk-rock’ bands. Once the popularity of the festival caught on, it changed its name to Bamboozle, and became a traveling festival.

According to a press release, the two-day concert will be held at The Plaza Green of iPlay America on May 18 and 19. GameChanger World, an artist-powered mobile gaming platform company, backs the festival.

“I felt the timing was right to revive the Skate And Surf Festival,” said John D’Esposito, of GameChanger World in a press release. “It’s where it all began for me and sometimes you need to go back to your roots. We are also really looking forward to bringing the festival to The Plaza Green at iPlay America and Freehold. It’s the perfect setting and we are very committed to making this one of the best live music events in 2013.”

The release further explains that the goal of the Freehold concert location is to create a memorable and lasting experience for attendees. D’Esposito and his team are working closely with iPlay America, Encore Event Center, and its President and CEO Robert McDaid.

With the incredible lineup planned and our location, the festival should prove to be the ultimate concert experience.”

The complete lineup for the 2013’s Skate and Surf Festival has not been released yet, however, special early bird passes and VIP weekend packages for the event went on sale Friday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m.
