MHS-TV TO PRESENT 125th CELEBRATION ON TELEVISION Starting on Monday, September 17, the Borough of Manasquan Television Committee will sponsor a four night showing of original Manasquan television programming in honor of Manasquan’s 125 Celebration. Beginning at 7:00 each night MHS-TV, Cablevision channel 77 and Verizon Fios channel 28, will be giving the community a glimpse of Manasquan’s history as well as the present. The schedule will be as follows: Monday: The History of Manasquan Part I, and the 75th Anniversary and Rededication of the Inlet Celebration, and this year’s Boat Parade. Tuesday: The Community’s National Day of Prayer Service; Columbus’ Landing on Manasquan beach, and the complete Fourth of July Fireworks display of 2007. Wednesday: The Opening of the Manasquan Inlet, Historical Videos, Borough Council Meeting, and the Re-dedication of the Manasquan Presbyterian Church. Thursday: The Manasquan Pageant Historical of 1987. There is something for everyone to see during these nights. Monday’s “The History of Manasquan” was written by Wesley Banse and depicts the beginnings of our Borough. The giant celebration of the re-dedication of the Inlet and this year’s Boat Parade feature many local residents. Tuesday’s “The National Day of Prayer Service” took place by the community at the Gazebo on the Plaza. Columbus did, indeed land at Manasquan; we have video of the event as well as the complete fireworks display. Wednesday is history night with original footage of the opening of the Manasquan Inlet as well as footage of Coast Guard rescues, the tragedy of the Morro Castle and more. Wednesday closes with a recent public Borough Council meeting and the celebration of the Re-dedication of the Presbyterian Church. The final night, Thursday is a showing of the “Manasquan Pageant Historical”. Originally performed in 1937, this version is the production written and directed by Lee Weisert in 1987. Featuring over 300 townspeople, it was presented in the high school gymnasium and was the opening activity of Manasquan’s Bicentennial Celebration of 1987. The programming will run beginning at 7:00PM for approximately two hours each night. Join us from you living room and enjoy our 125th Celebration!
