Anything Goes At Spring Lake Theatre Co.




SPRING LAKE THEATRE COMPANY TO PERFORM  ANYTHING GOES
SPRING LAKE, NJ: On August 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25 at 8:00 PM, the Spring Lake Theatre Co. proudly presents the classic musical comedy Anything Goes at the Historic Spring Lake Community House Theater.
Anything Goes originally opened on Broadway in 1934 at what is now the Neil Simon Theater and features the music of the famed composer Cole Porter. There have been several Broadway revivals, the most recent of which featured Sutton Foster and Joel Grey and just closed on July 8th, 2012.
Anything Goes tells the story of a cast of zany characters traveling from New York to London aboard an ocean liner. Billy Crocker, a young Wall Street broker (Reid Henderson of Avon), stows away in order to win the heart of American debutant Hope Harcourt (Christine Baglivio of Point Pleasant), who much to his dismay is engaged to the stuffy Englishman, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh (Martin Grubman of Monmouth Beach).With the help of former evangelist turned nightclub singer Reno Sweeney (Bre Cade of Point Pleasant), and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin (Joe Ronga of Point Pleasant) Billy attempts to win Hope’s affections and hilarity ensues.

Mary Lough provides the musical direction and theatergoers will recognize such classic Cole Porter tunes as “You’re the Top,” “Anything Goes,” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.” 
Producer Pat Barry of Spring Lake notes that over the last 34 years, the Spring Lake Theatre Co. has always been noted for its emphasis of family participation and Anything Goes is no different.Quadruplets Caroline, Theresa, John and Anne Miele are all involved in the production, and Director Kerry Baglivio is working with her sister Christine who plays Hope and her father Steve who plays the captain. 
This is the fourth time the Spring Lake Theater Company has produced Anything Goes (1979, 1989, 1999, 2012),which makes it tied with the musical Annie as the most produced and one of the most popular shows on the Spring Lake stage.
