Algonquin Arts Receives $10,000 Grant

Algonquin Arts in Manasquan in support of its Page and Stage Program received a grant of $10,000 to from the The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, officials said.

The program uses theatre arts to bring story characters to life to captivate and foster an appreciation for reading in young children.  The grant funds the program at learning centers serving Head Start children in Asbury Park, Neptune, Howell, Keyport, Red Bank and Freehold, according to a release.

The foundation is the charitable arm of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, which awarded $691,250 in grants to 35 non-profit organizations, the release said.

“The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey is committed to supporting non-profit organizations that are making a positive impact in the lives of New Jersey residents,” Robert A. Marino, chair of the foundation's board of directors CEO of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey said in the release.  “We commend these organizations for their work and proudly support their efforts to enrich the quality of life in New Jersey’s communities.”
