Weekend Nightlife Round Up

Picks to jump start your weekend

Need a break from the work week?  Here are a few suggestions on what is doing at the Jersey Shore this weekend.

The Boathouse, Belmar: This nautical-themed shore-inspired bar and restaurant is hands down one of the most popular spots for happy hour and late night drinks. Unpretentious and extremely casual, The Boathouse welcomes surfers, skaters, and fist-pumpers alike. On weekends and various nights through the week, there’ll be local bands and DJs playing a mix of top 40 hits and feel-good tunes. On Friday, the Pot Roddy Band will be performing. Drink specials include $2.50 Bud and Bud Light, and $4 house rum and coke from  6 p.m. to close.

Harrigan’s Pub, Sea Girt: “The premiere Irish pub at the Jersey Shore,” Harrigan’s definitely ranks as one of the most authentic and cozy pubs around. Usually attracting an older clientele, Harrigan’s is a good alternative to loud bands and cheap beer. They’ve got live entertainment every weekend and a full menu. On Friday, performing live, is Hey Bulldog and Saturday it is G-Jam soloist.

McCann’s Tavern, Lake Como: McCann’s is sometimes overlooked with the slew of bars that surround it, but it shouldn’t be. A traditional pub, McCann’s is a great place for live entertainment and simple night out. On Friday, performing will be Predator Dub Assassins, a popular reggae/dub group that fits the shore party scene perfectly. And if you’re not trying to bust the wallet, you’re in luck with $3 PBRs and no cover all night.

Harpoon Willy’s, Manasquan:  Located on the Manasquan River, Harpoon Willy’s is a fine place for diner and drinks. Its panoramic views of the water provide a sceneic backdrop for any occasion. This may be one of the best places to unwind on the weekend. Live music this weekend includes Filthy Rich and the Poor Boys and Satuday it is Billy Morris.

During happy hour all beers are $2.50, and even better, their happy hour runs on the weekend too (Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 3-7 p.m.). Saturday you can also get $4 Jack and cokes all night. DJ Kel spins on Saturday as well.

Bar Anticipation, Lake Como: If you live at the Jersey Shore then chances are you already know about Bar A’s incredible drink specials and wild parties. Saturday nights turn into a late night rave with Rumor Has It and DJ Mike’s between sets dance party. You can get lite beer all night for $2.75 and free admission until 9 p.m.
