Volunteers Will Take to Manasquan Parks, Stockton Lake for Day-Long Cleanup

Event is Saturday April 6

Hard hit by the flooding of Hurricane Sandy, the area around Stockton Lake Park and elsewhere in Manasquan will get a day devoted to clean-up at the hands of volunteers.

A "Town Clean Up" day event sponsored by the Manasquan Environmental Commission will take place starting at 9 a.m. and last through noon, Saturday April 6.

Volunteers are targeting debris in the area of Stockton Lake Park, Tassini Park and the area betwen the elementary school and Route 71.

Registration is at Stockton Lake Park, on the side near the Little League fields.

The environmental commission has been compiling some of the public areas in need of clean-up that the volunteers can help with, and suggestions are being taken via email at ec@manasquan-nj.com.

Only borough owned properties will be clean up. For example, though the railroad tracks have some debris, the property is owned by NJ Transit and is not part of the clean-up.

The environmental commission is reaching out to businesses interested in providing materials or other types of assistance. Those interested can email ec@manasquan-nj.com.

Volunteers should bring work gloves and dress appropriately.

In addition, the commission is collecting non-perishable food donations for the Monmouth and Ocean FoodBank.
