Manasquan Looking for a Few Good Fools

Ridiculous road race set to raise funds for a worthy cause

It's not every day that you see several hundred people in ridiculous costumes running through the streets, but once a year the usually quiet avenues of Manasquan come alive in a half-road race, half-Mardi Gras parade spectacle.

The 15th annual Fool's Run and Fitness Walk will be held on April 2 in Mallard Park with the Kid's Run set to go off at 10 a.m. followed by the 5K race at 11 a.m. Mallard Park is located at the corner of Potter and Cedar avenues.

Online registration is open until March 30. The first 500 registered racers will receive a Fool's Run hooded sweatshirt. Anyone who pre-registers for the race will receive a t-shirt.

In addition to awards to the top finishers in various age groups, awards will also be given for the most ridiculous costumes.

An after-party will be held at The Beach House Bar and Grill— formerly O'Neill's. Door prizes will also be given out.

The annual race will serve as a fundraiser for the Manasquan Recreation Commission's Recreation Building Fund.
