Manasquan and Belmar hold annual tree lighting ceremonies

Manasquan and Belmar both held their annual Christmas tree lighting ceremonies Friday night.

In Manasquan, festivities began at 6 p.m. in Squan Plaza on Abe Vorhees Drive and included a candy cane hunt for children. A few miles north in Belmar, the ceremony kicked off at 4:15 p.m. at Pyanoe Plaza on Main Street with songs from the Choir.

The Main Street celebration included an appearance by Santa Claus, fire truck rides, face painting and treats provided by the borough's tourism commission and the Belmar Chamber of Commerce.
