Hungry Patrons Take Taste of Manasquan Tour

The Second Annual Taste of Manasquan restaurant tour was held in Manasquan on Sunday

This past Sunday afternoon, many individuals from near and far came to Manasquan with large appetites, eager to participate in the borough’s second annual Taste of Manasquan restaurant tour. This tour, organized by the Manasquan Chamber of Commerce, saw twenty local restaurants opening their doors to the public to sample a wide variety of cuisine.

Many began the tour at Manasquan Lighting on Main Street. At this location, attendees were able to purchase wristbands for $25, and this wristband was their admission to all of the restaurants located on the tour.

Laura Gilardini, Executive Director of the Manasquan Chamber of Commerce, noted that prior to the day, 200 tickets were sold for the event, and she expected a great deal more to sign up for the event throughout the course of the day.

“People really seem to love this event, and it’s a great way to expose people to all of the different types of eateries that are found all over Manasquan,” she said.

Helping out with this event were members of the Manasquan High School Key Club as well. Members of the club were stationed outside all of the eateries on the tour, making sure that all attendees had wristbands prior to sampling the food offered over the course of the tour.

Manasquan High School freshman student Delaney Burke, who was stationed outside of Remington’s on Main Street, noted she loved helping out with this event, and was more than happy to lend a hand.

“This is all about getting out there and helping the local community,” Delaney said, adding she was looking forward to her induction into the Key Club this Tuesday at Manasquan High School.

Along with Remington’s, there were a great deal of restaurants on Main Street, as well as other for patrons to sample food from. Some of these restaurants included Bubbakoos Burritos, Center Food Market, East Main Street Trattoria, Firefly, Gee Gee’s, Green Planet Coffee, La Casa de Mexico, Leggett’s, Manasquan Beach House, Maria’s, Max Devros, Re Juice-A-Nation, Rocco’s Pizza, Rod’s Olde Irish Tavern, Squan Tavern, Surf Taco, The Corner Bagelry, The Main Scoop and Third Ave. Chocolate Shoppe.

The restaurants offered a wide sample of food for patrons of discerning palates. Places like Rocco’s Pizza and Gee Gee’s served up wide varieties of pizza, while Surf Taco and Bubbakoos Burritos offered a variety of Mexican-themed cuisine.

One of the most popular stops on the tour was Third Ave. Chocolate Shoppe, where patrons were allowed to select two pieces of chocolate to enjoy, giving them the chance to finish their day of eating with a little desert.

Matt Magyar, of Third Ave. Chocolate Shoppe, noted he loved having everyone come in to the store on Sunday and getting the chance to see what kind of treats are offered at the establishment.

“This really is a fabulous day that the Chamber of Commerce has helped put together,” Magyar said. “We’re happy to help out with this tour, and the more smiles we see from the people who come in to our eatery, the more perfect this day becomes."
