20th Culinary Classic Set For Monday

Attendees will enjoy food from about 35 restaurants

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties will be holding its 20th annual Culinary Classic event at the Mill in Spring Lake Heights on September 19 to raise money for feeding the hungry.

About 35 area restaurants, six wineries and one brewery will be offering tastings.

“There is no greater cause than to get food to those who are hungry right here at home,” said the Mill's general manager, Don Rodgers.

Some of the restaurants in attendance will include: McLoone’s, Oyster Point Hotel, Taste, the Melting Pot, Pilot House and more.

“The most exciting part of the evening is sampling all the wonderful tastings presented by these amazing restaurateurs who are donating their expertise and product to help those less fortunate,” said Ellen Koment, media coordinator of the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. “Very few attendees are able to sample everything presented.”

According to Koment, some foods attendees can expect include: pumpkin seed crusted blue fish with purple potatoes and Jersey tomatoes, scarborough fair, grilled thai shrimp in cucumber cups, tenderloin beef carpaccio on lettuce with olive oil, cake shots and much more.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. Ticket cost is $75 per person and can be purchased by calling 732-918-2600 or by going to www.foodbankmoc.org. Last year’s event raised over $60,000 which was directed to provide nutritious food to 270 charities in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties is a member of Feeding America and secures and distributes almost seven million pounds of food annually to a network of approximately 260 hunger relief organizations in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
