Sea Girt Elementary School staff came out to "feel the love" at the annual Valentine Plunge for ALS in Manasquan on February 8th.
Mr. Mundie, music teacher, Mrs. Welsh, art teacher and Mr. Guibord technology coordinator all braved a quick dip in the frigid Atlantic Ocean in honor and memory of Mr. Guibord's sister and all those who passed from the dreaded disease.
The annual plunge, organized by Joan Dancy and Pals Foundation raised a record breaking amount of over $200,000 this year takes place each year in Manasquan at the main beach, with a post plunge festivities at Leggetts.
The funds are used to help individuals and their families who are coping and living with the disease. More information about the Joan Dancy and Pals Foundation and the annual plunge please visit http://valentineplunge.com/.
The teachers were extremely grateful to co workers Mrs. Grant, second grade teacher and Ms. Dunbar , science teacher, who also came to support the event and cheer them on.
Save the date for next year when we anticipate gathering more staff and members of the community to "feel the love". Anyone wishing to still donate to support the teachers, please visit https://ssl.charityweb.net/joandancyandpals/valentineplunge/search.htm for their individual names and fund raising pages.
