Monmouth Medical Center Presents “Brainstorm” – a Free Seminar on Rehabilitation

The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center is hosting “Brainstorm: A Dialogue and Education Series,” a free community seminar on Monday, September 16, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Borden Auditorium.  The free seminar for those affected by all types of brain tumors, as well as those facing serious illness, will focus on understanding the role of rehabilitation in cancer and brain tumor patient care.

Guest speaker Todd J. Cooperman, M.D., FAAPMR, medical director of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls, will review findings that support the effectiveness of cancer rehabilitation, discuss rehabilitation issues that are unique to brain tumor patients and define the role of the rehabilitation physician in the treatment of brain tumor patients. The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion featuring brain tumor survivors and caregivers who will share their personal stories.

Registration (sandwiches and snacks) will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the program and panel discussion at 5:30 p.m. A free “Art is Good” workshop will be offered in a separate room for school-age children and teens whose family members are attending the Brainstorm seminar.
