Did I really read this above about Rottweilers from Sadie Holly, "I personally am more afraidRead More of because they can change because of their skull pressure when they get older". She doesn't sound like a breed basher but I really can't believe an adult would actually say something like that. Gina, I feel your anger what you have here are people that believe the media. If you're ignorant to begin with you'll believe anything the media says. It's people that created bad pit bulls which are only a small fraction of Pits.

Most of the Pit Bulls of today are not bred to be fighters like they used to be. They were createdRead More as dog fighters and criminal protectors. The most aggressive puppies were trained and bred to produce more and more aggressive dogs. However, since dog fighting became illegal, responsible breeders only bred the gentlest puppies, neutering/spaying and extensively training the more aggressive puppies. There are still pit bulls that can be aggressive - most of them only toward other dogs. Owners must be aware of their dog's "tirggers" (other dogs, cats, squirrels, and people's threatening actions or gestures) and keep them under control during these situations. The difference between a pit bull and other dogs is that they are physically more powerful. That doesn't mean that all pit bulls are dangerous. Some just need more extensive training than others. We must all remember that all dogs were bred from wolves - from the largest great danes to the smallest toy breeds. That doesn't mean that they are all pack hunters like their ancestors. By the way, contrary to popular belief, all wolves are not dangerous either. Today's pit bulls are largely bred for sweet temperaments. We need only fear owner's intent, neglect, or inability to control their dog.

And id just like to say that NO ANIMAL IS "BRED" to do ANYTHING! It's who they are in theRead More hands of! ANYTHING STRAIGHT OUT OF THE WHOM IS INNOCENT! They only know what they are TAUGHT! My pitbull had one beautiful litter of 6 blue females, and we loved and cuddled with them Everyday! Now - if we kept them separate, abused them, Locked in a dark room.. They would be aggressive as shit! THEY ONLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TAUGHT! Any dog just wants to be loved and pet! Which is why they can be rehabilitated to TRUST humans again, when they are shown GOOD CARE. Ignorant people on here think they know anything about Pitbulls. Go read the horrid stories on how pits are burned and left on chains with bones showing on their bodies..... U WONDER WHY THOSE ATTACK THEIR OWNER???? if everyone's mother told them "treat others the way you wanna be treated", this world would be a better place.

So you have a past hatred of them since you were neighbors over something else and now you areRead More trying to discredit them.
Jowasana Halvalry April 17, 2014 at 07:49 am
Not quite, actually amazed that they would do this, they have been on the first responders forRead More years. And very respectable people.
WMS826 April 17, 2014 at 09:54 am

JD You're 100% correct about the person walking the street. It's the owner of the dogsRead More responsibility. The mass breeding of the Pit Bull has also contributed to the problem. A big contributor to this Pit Bull mania was Sports Illustrated. In 1987 they put a pit baring its teeth on the cover with the headline "Beware of this dog". This attracted a lot of types of people that wanted them. Gang members sought the breed in droves. Back yard breeders began over breeding because the demand was so high. Many of these dogs were abused, abandoned and became sought after for the ring. To make them meaner they would pump them with steroids, beat them, chain them with heavy chains around their necks all day to make them stronger and force them with hours of exercise daily. It is human scum that have made Pit Bulls the problem. The monsters are humans not these wonderful animals. Joe R why don't you add the most savage of those animals to your list, humans.
