Transformer Fire Cuts Off Power to Lake Como, Belmar
Power mostly restored by sunset, JCP&L reports
A transformer fire Tuesday afternoon popped atop a utility pole in Lake Como, leaving residents in the borough and neighboring Belmar without power.
JCP&L crews responded after emergency responders addressed the small blaze around 2:15 p.m.
By 5 p.m., power had been mostly restored through utility crews remained on the scene.
Lake Como police, fire department and fire aid were dispatched to Margerum and 21st to 22nd streets to address the transformer fire around 2:15 p.m.
The busted transformer created a power outage impacted a large portion of Lake Como into Belmar past 8th Avenue.
