State Inspection to Close Two Area Bridges This Week

Bridges in Belmar and Manasquan will be temporarily closed for inspections

Two area bridges will be temporarily closed later this week while crews conduct routine inspections, according to a release from Monmouth County officials.

The Shark River Bridge along Ocean Avenue between Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea will be closed Thursday, Jan. 26, beginning at 10 p.m., and lasting three to four hours, the release says.

The Glimmer Glass Bridge along Brielle Road between Manasquan and Brielle will be closed Friday, Jan. 27, beginning at 9 a.m., and lasting approximately two hours, the release says.

Bridge inspections are required by the state Department of Transportation every two years, as part of the state's Movable Bridge Inspection program and the state DOT's National Bridge Inventory Standards program, the release says.

The inspections will be overseen by Hardesty and Hanover, LLP of Trenton, the release says.
