Mary Kate Cashman will be among the contestants vying for a chance to compete at the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee during a regional competition held Monday at Monmouth University.

A fifth grader from St. Rose Grammar School will compete for a chance to be in the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee during a regional competition Monday night being held at Monmouth University.

Mary Kate Cashman, 10, of Bradley Beach will be among the competitors from all over Monmouth and Ocean counties vying for  a chance at the national spelling title.

Words begin flying at 6 p.m. at the West Long Branch university's Pollack Theatre.
