School Psychologist, Bradley Beach Resident, Suspended After Marijuana Arrest
Michele Thompson was charged with distribution of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.
Little Silver's school psychologist was suspended by the district following an arrest last month for alleged distribution of marijuana and child endangerment.
Michele J. Thompson, 45, Ocean Park Avenue, Bradley Beach was charged Jan. 21 with distribution of marijuana and several counts of child endangerment following an investigation by Bradley Beach Police, according to APP.com. Harold A. Sturm, 50, also of Ocean Park Avenue in Bradley Beach, was also charged.
Little Silver Board of Education President Christian Smith said the board "became aware of a situation in which an employee was charged with alleged criminal activity." Thompson was suspended by the district shortly after the arrest.
"Because this is a personnel matter, we cannot comment or provide details other than that the individual has been suspended while we gather information regarding the allegations," Smith said.
He added that the alleged activity did not involve any student in the Little Silver school district.
The board approved hiring Helaine Conti as a part-time replacement psychologist at its Feb. 7 meeting at $325 per day, up to three days per week, effective Feb. 8.

This woman was charged with DISTRIBUTION, not just possesion, of Marijuana, AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT! Sounds like she & the Harold Sturm mentioned were selling Marijuana from the house with minors living in that environment.
So is this the 'normal' you think we should accept from our educators? Would you want her counseling your child?
Isn't this why we pay such high taxes & pay our teachers so well so they shouldn't have to break the law?

She is a drug dealer. As a mental health professional she should be ashamed of herself. She should have paid more attention to the public health studies from the Netherlands(where it is decriminalized) that documents a 7 times greater increase of psychotic incidents, drug induced mental illness, & loss of 9 IQ points in users. Maybe she used a bit too much weed herself.... She really isn't very smart.

They will be paying her replacement $325 a day. That is $1625 per week. This person was probably paid even more as a 15 year tenured employee. She is also suspended WITH PAY.

Sorry, I notice the replacement will be part time(3 days a week). Unlike the one who was fired. Schools are required to have one on staff full time.

Pretty one-sided comments. It seems that all it takes is one rotten kid to tell a bogus lie and an overzealous, very bored police department and someone's life is ruined. People shouldn't make comments until they know all the facts and the people involved.

William Morrisey,
Do you know something the rest of us don't? If so please share.
Nothing in the reports tell that any 'rotten kid' led to her arrest with any 'bogus lie' Do you have any knowledge of this? or are you just making comments not knowing all of the facts and the people involved?
I don't know all of the facts either but chances are the Bradley Beach police didn't just randomly decide to wreck these two people's lives without evidence.
