Well, Charlie, it looks as though you did some homework on this one. It is unusual to see a public official filing claims against a constituent over what is apparently criticism. Criticism goes with the turf when you are a member of a public body. Good coverage. Looking forward to the follow ups.

Wow. So the prior board president who resigned that role due to harassment from board members now claims harassment against members of the public. Under what basis? And then says "I'm staying?" Who does that? Call it a day. Not sure why the Superintendent noted as divulging the information to Muly is "no comment" unless she is part of the problem. Please explain the part of the principal identifying kids from photographs Charlie. That can't be SOP or legal?

is this why muly and other board members always in groziano office? to provide cover up? what kids involved and I am very disturbed reading what our principal has done and why is ms margin giving legal emails to a board member? did she or lawyer respond to shelton when he asked for her resignation? she sure should now. we can't ALL afford to send our kids out like others are doing but maybe that time has come.

Okay so Shelton did nothing wrong and wasn't charged no shock there so what is the board of education doing about the allegations made? Shouldn't they be focused on the bigger picture?

This is embarrassing and it certainly doesn't seem that anyone is moving past anything. I'm not looking forward to another year of accomplishing nothing due to in-fighting. If Mrs. Muly did witness kids defacing school property, she should have just called the police and not taken matters into her own hands.

I think it's time to clean house. The board seems to worry about what the kids do in the summer months than the type of education they are getting. It's a good thing that the majority of the teachers in this district are above average.

Hey Mrs. Muly, why did you fabricate what you took pictures of? Everyone knows it was of kids smoking because several of us know the kids and their families well, at least that's what you and Graziano accused them of. Did you not tell the police the correct story? There was no "vandalism of property" claims when you called the parents who Colleen gave you the names of. Remember Colleen got one of the kids wrong THAT is what caused all of this. This happened at Stockton park by your home, NOT school property. Throw in the towel on this one. Make amends.

People.....let's try to remember there are 2 sides to every story. Maybe someone should look into some of Mr. Shelton's antics. I just can't get over that there are so many people buying into this load of bull. He will show his true colors eventually and his supporters will be embarrased to have been a drinker of the kool-aid

The "haters" always come out don't they? I wanted to reserve my commentary until I felt it warranted as someone who has followed BOE issues for awhile, not nearly as long as Shelton. Not sure what color you're looking for - this is black and white. She accused him, it was decided "legal and in his rights." Are you suggesting the police are wrong? Isn't the question here what is being done about possible ethical violations of the board? Charlie, in the actual police report does Muly admit to taking the photographs? Seems he notified the board of a lot more than just this and they failed to act. Who was in charge during this? Oh that's right, Muly herself. Again, black and white.

I have nothing to do with the BOE. If you think it's going to get better with Shelton on board you are sadly mistaken. There will be lot's of drama.

To Know Better - well, you apparently didn't. It's evident after two posts making derogatory comments about someone who was falsely accused in a police report that you aren't a fan. The question is though, are you part of the problem? I say yes.

Maybe let the new people go to a few meetings before you pass judgment? Hard to imagine there could be more drama than the past.

Read accompanying story "Muly Steps Down as Squan BOE President" in the sidebar next to this story. She cited harassment then too - against members of the board and the public. If she felt so, why since stay? Did she file police reports then too against her fellow members?

Please correct me if I am wrong. Squan board members don't get paid, I think.

One (maybe more) possibly committed some questionable acts and it was suggested they resign. There was a choice to do it simply and quietly, but instead they went and filed a police report for possible harassment.

The board president is concerned about the allegations internally and the prosecutor obviously isn't because citizens can scrutinize public officials, within reason.

Now it's an ugly news item and a principal will probably get fired when the unpaid board member could have just walked away and done the decent thing.

How much glory is there in being a board member that someone has to lose their job?

She should have gone to the police with the photos instead of the Principal. Let them investigate, that's what they get paid to do.
As far as the letter goes, she should have asked her lawyer for legal advise instead of going to the police.
On a side note, Manasquan has a lot of vandalism for a small town.
