Police: Spring Lake Heights Man Stole Credit Card from Unlocked Car

Allegedly used card to rack up nearly $500 in purchases

A Spring Lake Heights man has been charged by police with stealing a credit card from an unlocked car in the borough and then using it to make nearly $500 in purchases, documents show.

James R. Price, 24, of Pitney Drive, faces third- and fourth-degree charges stemming from an alleged July 1 incident in which police say he entered an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of the Oaks Apartments, where he also lives, and stole a credit card from a wallet inside.

Price then allegedly used the stolen credit card to obtain goods valued at $437.57, the criminal complaint says.

Price was arrested July 2 and made his initial appearance in Superior Court the following day in Freehold, documents show.

His bail was set at $16,000 with a ten-percent option, documents show.
