No Surprises in Manasquan Council Primary

Sinneck, Olivera, Pappas and Batista set for Nov. showdown

There were no surprises in the results of Tuesday's Manasquan Borough Council primary election.

Both pairs of GOP and Democratic candidates endorsed by their parties earlier this year received the official nominations by unanimous votes Tuesday.

Republicans Michael J. Sinneck and Greg Olivera and Democrats Michele Batista and Peter S. Pappas will be on November's ballot vying for two Borough Council seats.

Pappas garnered 85 votes and Batista received 78 for the Democratic nominations, according to the county's unofficial results. Olivera and Sinneck took in 338 and 327 votes for the GOP nods, respectively.

Two council seats will be wide open this November since Republican Patricia Connolly is not running and former Councilman Don Grasso resigned earlier this year. Grasso's replacement Marilyn Jacobson, appointed last month, will not defend her seat.
