Memorial Day Weekend Survival Guide

They're baaaaaack.

That's right. It's Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer, and for locals that means one thing— crowds.

Populations in our once sleepy beach towns will now balloon as seasonal residents and tourists flood the area to enjoy our beautiful beaches and amazing nightlife.

Wherever you end up this weekend, keep an eye out for the Manasquan-Belmar Patch team. We'll be out in force this weekend, covering local happenings.

Stay cool this weekend by attending one of these local events:

• Manasquan Fireworks: The Manasquan Tourism Commission and The Mill at Spring Lake Heights are presenting a concert and fireworks celebration at Manasquan Main Beach on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. featuring music by the Retro Kings.
• Bradley Beach Flea Market: The Bradley Beach boardwalk will be packed with vendors on Saturday, selling a variety of unique and unusual items. The event will also feature food and entertainment and lasts from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• The Spring Lake Five: Since its inception in 1977, the Spring Lake Five has become one of the premiere road races in New Jersey. The sold out race will see nearly 10,000 runners take to borough streets this year.

Memorial Day Services scheduled for Monday:

• 8:45 a.m. at the Plaza in Sea Girt
• 9:30 a.m. at Monument Row, Main Street between 12th and 13th avenues in Belmar
• 10 a.m. at Doughboy Park, between 7th and 8th avenues at the train tracks in Belmar
• 10 a.m. at Riley Park in Bradley Beach
• 10 a.m. at Squan Plaza, Abe Vorhees Drive in Manasquan presented by Manasquan Veterans of Foreign War Post 1838
• 10:30 a.m. at the Spring Lake War Memorial, Fifth and Passaic avenues in Spring Lake (parade begins at H.W. Mountz School)
