Local Hospital Hosting Pep Rally For U.S. Olympic Soccer Team Captain Christie Rampone

Jersey Shore University Medical Center hosting event for Manasquan resident

Hundreds of children, parents and soccer supporters will gather to cheer on U.S. Olympic Soccer Team Captain Christie Rampone, of Manasquan, at a pep rally at Jersey Shore Medical Center on Tuesday, June 26.

Rampone, a graduate of Point Pleasant Borough High School, is also the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center spokesperson and will need the support as she heads to London for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

The pep rally will take place at 12 p.m., and will include speeches, autographs, photos and music. Jersey Shore University Medical Center is located at 1945 Route 33, Neptune.

By partnering with K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, Rampone, a Monmouth University graduate, promotes wellness, exercise, safety and healthy eating for kids.

“I have lived in Monmouth and Ocean counties for most of my life, and delivered both my daughters at Jersey Shore University Medical Center," Rampone said in a release. "I am grateful for the opportunity to be the official spokesperson for K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital, and can’t wait to meet my friends and supporters at the pep rally!”

Rampone is the ninth player in the Women’s National Soccer Team’s 28-year history to be named the team captain. Her leadership has paid dividends as she guided her team to the Olympic Gold Medal in 2008 and the finals of the 2011 Women’s World Cup.
