It's Fourth of July Weekend! Here's a look at a few great events happening in the area!
Saturday
Ocean Mile Swim: Bradley Beach's Kent Avenue beach is the location of the annual Jack Wright Ocean Mile Swim. The gun goes off at 9:30 a.m.
Art Walk: The Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce will give residents a chance to stroll downtown Spring Lake while enjoying a juried art show on Saturday. The event begins at 10 a.m.
Independence Day Parade: The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Assocation will host an Independence Day Parade on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Independence Day in Manasquan: A patriotic bicycle decorating contest for children kicks off the days events, followed by a parade. The Billy Lawlor Band and Fireworks at Main Beach finish out the evening. Keep an eye out for the Patch team, we'll be there!
Military Appreciation Day: The borough of Belmar will thank the troops by offering active military and their immediate families a fun-filled and free day at the beach.
Sunday
Flea Market: The Ladies' Auxiliary of Manasquan Volunteer Engine Company #2 will hold a flea market at Squan Plaza beginning bright and early at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Declaration of Independence Reading: A reading of the historical document which help give birth to the United States of America will be done at Avon-by-the-Sea's borough hall on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Fireworks: Bradley Beach will have fireworks at 9 p.m. on the beach at Brinley Avenue. A DJ will be playing music in the Ocean Avenue gazebo beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Goonies: Belmar's 8th Avenue beach will turn into a movie theater at dusk, as the Belmar Tourism Commission sponsoring a showing of the family-friendly 1980s classic. Bring a chair or towel. This event is weather permitting.
Monday
Monday, July 4 is a National Holiday. Borough offices, post offices, banks and many businesses will be closed in observance.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Independence Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.
