If You Need To Use The Toilet, Consider Waiting

Hurricane Sandy is causing sewage backups

Please avoid using your water, sink, toilets and bathtubs as best as possible, Manasquan officials say.

The borough received word overnight from the South Monmouth Regional Sewage Authority that its nine pump stations in the area are "flooded and inaccessible."

With the pump stations down , sewage cannot be received by them, officials say. This will cause backups in your sewerage line and into your home.

Once the flooding recedes, the authority will be able to get to the pump stations and make them operable.

Please do not tie the police department phone line or public works lines with questions regarding sewer backups, officials say.

Once Manasquan receives new information, the borough will post this here.
