Neptune man faces charges in Superior Court of attempted theft committed in Avon
A Spring Lake Heights man was indicted last week in Superior Court on charges of possessing and distributing marijuana in the borough to an undercover detective, the indictment says.
Meanwhile, a Neptune man was indicted on charges of attempted theft stemming from an incident that allegedly took place in Avon-By-The-Sea, according to the indictment.
David Mericle, 22, of Pitney Drive, was arrested in Spring Lake Heights on April 19 after allegedly attempting to distribute marijuana to an undercover detective from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, according to an indictment handed up by a grand jury Dec. 1.
Mericle was charged with possession of a dangerous controlled substance with intent to distribute and distribution of a dangerous controlled substance, the indictment says. Both are fourth degree crimes.
Matthew Steele, 19, of West Lake Avenue, allegedly attempted to steal $500 from an unnamed victim in Avon-By-The-Sea on Sep. 1, according to the indictment handed up by a grand jury Dec. 1.
Steele was charged with attempted theft of movable property, the indictment says. That is a third degree crime.
