Editor's Note: The date is corrected after being rescheduled from Friday to Dec. 11.
The tree is ready, the weather just has to cooperate.
Belmar's tree lighting is now scheduled for today, Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. after a rainy day pushed the holiday event back.
The tree lighting, originally scheduled for last Friday, was temporarily rescheduled for Dec. 14 before deciding last night to switch to Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Mayor Matt Doherty announced the weather had compromised the tree lighting last Friday, and the borough is hoping for a better forecast as Christmas approaches.
Tonight, residents can converge on Pyanoe Plaza, 9th Ave and Main Street, in Belmar to ooh and ahh as the borough flips the switch on its evergreen. The event is expected to pick-up the tempo from 5:15 to 6 p.m.
There's plenty of other holiday events going on in Belmar. For example, an event with light refreshments for all of Belmar's active adults and seniors will take place at Connolly Station 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 13. Music by Fred Lehotay and the Ragtimers.

Actually Catheine, the 1st Robocall last night said Tuesday Dec 13, then they called a 2nd time and said Tuesday, Dec 11, so it doesn't surprise me that there was so
much confusion. We really appreciate patch.com reporting the event so everyone can
enjoy it.

No problem. Looks to be a night in the low 50s/high 40s filled with holiday cheer.
