With their right hands raised, four Belmar residents swore to faithfully serve the school board, kicking off their terms of office at the Belmar Board of Education reorganization meeting.
Sworn in for a three year term: Joanne Gray, Christine Kurzweil and Richard Brand. Aileen Fahy was sworn in to a one year term.
Cherie Adams was chosen again to serve as board president; Mark Walsifer will again serve as vice president.
Superintendent David Hallman said the agenda for the next month would focus on exploring two initiatives. One, the Strong Administration system, would require training of staff and teachers to best launch its components. The other would be a focus on changing the common core curriculum.
Hallman said the following school board meeting would present some options for math and science curriculum. The emphasis would be on components that allow for seamless transition to high school, he said.
