Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

A Message From the Editor

One week into my new responsibility, I humbly seek your help

Having nearly served my first week as editor of the Manasquan-Belmar Patch, it's probably time to introduce myself to our faithful contingent of readers.

It is an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to serve this community as a (hopefully) trusted source of relevant news and information regarding the local governments, school boards and cultural events continuously taking place in your towns.

But without the generous support from both the officials and residents of Manasquan and Belmar, my duties to the community cannot be fulfilled.

In just less than a week, I've already established the early stages of key relationships with several integral members of both towns. My hope is to continue building upon these relationships and beginning many more with the intent of providing readers a one-stop shop for all vital news on the day-to-day activities of Manasquan and Belmar.

Most importantly, readers must know that I cannot achieve these goals without their help.

While I grew up in Wall Township and have spent the last 20-plus years living in this area, no single person -- as much as I may like to be -- can be in all places at all times. I absolutely need your help.

Both Manasquan and Belmar have rich, tight-knit communities filled with amazing people doing incredible things. Let me know about them.

As I continue to reach out the the many pillars of these two extraordinary towns, I am encouraged to learn of the many individuals who work selfessly and enthusiastically to improve their communities and better the lives of their fellow residents.

It is my goal and promise to serve this community as a fair and accurate monitor of the people, places and things that continually define and shape the fabric of daily life, government and business in Manasquan and Belmar.

If I make a mistake or inadvertanly miss an important event -- and it certainly will happen from time to time -- please let me know. I am just one 26-year-old reporter trying his best to provide you with the things you want to read and know about. I undoubtedly have much to learn.

Please feel free reach out to me via email (charlielaplaca@gmail.com), with a phone call (908-902-5154) or in the comments section of any article. I'd love to hear what you have to say.

You are the community. I am just a source for sharing your news and events and your encouragement and help is important to me. It will not only make me a better reporter, but also this site a better place for information.

Sincerely,

Charlie LaPlaca
